Privacy Policy
How we handle the personal information we collect in the course of building certification work.
What we collect
We collect the information needed to carry out certification work: your name, company, contact details, site address and property details, project documentation, and correspondence relating to the assessment. We do not collect sensitive personal information beyond what a statutory assessment requires.
Why we collect it
To assess and certify building work, to issue consents, permits and reports, to carry out inspections, to respond to enquiries and prepare fee proposals, and to meet our obligations as registered building certifiers.
Disclosure to authorities
Certification is a statutory function. We are required to provide documentation, consents, permits, inspection records and related information to councils, the relevant state or territory building authority, and other bodies where the legislation requires it. We may also disclose information to your other project consultants where doing so is necessary to complete the assessment.
Storage and retention
Records are held in our practice systems and retained for the period required by the record-keeping obligations that apply to registered certifiers. We take reasonable steps to protect information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.
Access and correction
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask for it to be corrected. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Complaints
If you believe your privacy has been mishandled, contact us in the first instance and we will investigate. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
